Bat detector network

Bat detector network

Author: Veljo Sinivee

Idea is to build a wide band bat detector that is able to work as a standalone or a server connected device. Detector logs fly by times and bat locator working frequencies.Connection to central server is done over 433/866 MHz. Central server has a database and user interface that allows to see number of fly by objects grouped by locator frequencies, timestamps, etc. Bat species could be indicated based on its locator frequency (e.g. most bats in Estonia use 20 … 50 kHz frequency). Stored data could provide lots of helpful information for bat researchers.

Standalone detector could indicate bat’s fly by with LED and also generate a sound signal audible for human ear. All information will be logged to SD card.

Knowledge needed to team: biologist / bat researcher, web and server developer
