Cubehub – crowdsourced satellite groundstation network

Cubehub – crowdsourced satellite groundstation network

Author: Andres Vahter

The idea is to create a ground station that is able to receive signals from satellites working in 70 cm amateur radio band (e.g ESTCube-1). There are huge number of satellites operating in this frequency range

Currently almost everybody is able to receive data packets from satellite with their own ground station. It is possible on every 1.5 hours, when connection lasts for 10 minutes. It is not possible to do much during this time span. The idea is to create a simple ground station that is installable easily. It will be possible to connect the ground station to a network with other similar devices and it makes possible to achieve functionality that exceeds today’s most complex systems. In addition to hardware also web-environment is being created that allows to have access to data via internet
